Recently, we had the honor of spending a magical weekend with Jolea and Cameron in Upstate New York to capture their engagement photos at Highland Park in Rochester. Their timing couldn’t have been more perfect, as the famous Lilac Festival was in full swing, offering stunning backdrops of blooming lilacs and vibrant spring colors.

One of the highlights of the weekend was staying at Jolea and Cameron’s home, where we were able to connect on a personal level before heading out for their engagement shoot. It made the experience feel intimate and relaxed perfect for creating natural, candid photos.

For this shoot, Jolea looked radiant in her Rafina dress from Reformation, its flowy elegance complementing the natural beauty around us. The soft pastels of her dress harmonized beautifully with the blooming lilacs, creating the perfect blend of style and scenery. We also made sure to capture the couple’s fur baby, Mabel, their adorable German Shorthair Pointer, who added even more personality to their session. Including pets in engagement photos is always a special touch, and Mabel’s playful energy made for a truly heartwarming moment!

A Maternity Session at the Ranch & Welcoming Baby Palmer Home | Alek & Kirsten

When Alek and Kirsten invited us to their family ranch for their maternity session, we knew it would be a day to remember. The ranch was more than just a backdrop—it was a cherished place where memories are made, and the story of their growing family would be no different.

We began by exploring the beautiful property, which led us into a small wood where deer often roam. The woods had a serene, magical feel as light filtered through the trees, and it felt like the perfect place to celebrate the anticipation of new life.

Kirsten, glowing and full of joy, hiked through the woods with incredible strength and grace, even while pregnant. She was a champ, and the adventure of it all added such an authentic energy to the session. We laughed, captured their quiet moments together, and celebrated the journey they were on.

Fast forward to when they welcomed baby Palmer into the world. We had the privilege of continuing their story with a newborn session in the comfort of their brand new home. There’s something so intimate about photographing a family in their own space—the warmth and coziness of home naturally make the session feel effortless. Palmer, peaceful and snuggled up, fit right into the love that already filled the house. Alek and Kirsten, now settling into their roles as parents, were relaxed and beaming with happiness.

Capturing these moments—from the peaceful walks through the woods during Kirsten’s pregnancy to the joy of welcoming Palmer into their home—was truly special. Seeing their family’s story unfold in two places that mean so much to them was a reminder of the beauty in life’s transitions.

This journey, from the ranch to their new home, was a perfect reflection of Alek and Kirsten’s bond, strength, and the love they have for their growing family. We can’t wait to watch Palmer grow up in the warmth of this home they’ve created.

A Full Circle Moment: The Britt Family’s Photoshoot

At J. R. Poole Photography, we love watching families grow, and our recent session with the Britt family was especially meaningful. Brittany, Adam, and their new baby, Georgia, made the long drive from Las Vegas to return to the very spot where they took their bridal portraits just last year. The lush landscape, which served as the perfect backdrop for their wedding photos, now beautifully framed their first family portraits.

It was a joy to capture this new chapter in their lives, and baby Georgia’s sweet personality already shines through the camera. There's something magical about revisiting a location that holds so much sentimental value—creating memories in a place that’s already special. We feel honored to have been part of both their wedding and this new family milestone.

An Unforgettable Winter Wonderland Wedding at Hualapai Mountain Resort | Cesar and Carissa

March weddings in Arizona typically bring to mind mild weather and blooming landscapes. But when Cesar and Carissa tied the knot at the Hualapai Mountain Resort, Mother Nature had a different plan. The night before their big day, a blanket of snow covered the mountain, turning the resort into a picturesque winter wonderland. And as the snow continued to fall throughout the day, it only added to the magic of their wedding.

For many couples, unexpected snow might have been a cause for concern. But not for Cesar and Carissa. From the moment they saw the frosty landscape, they both were filled with awe that this was the day they were going to marry their best friend. Their enthusiasm was contagious. Carissa even gave her parents personalized gifts to make the day more memorable than it was to start with.

The bride and groom got a moment alone to sit back to back and read letters they wrote to each other before the ceremony. Meanwhile guests marveled at the serene beauty of the snow-covered mountains, the way the white backdrop made every detail of the wedding pop, and how the falling snowflakes seemed to dance around the couple as they exchanged vows. It was as if the weather was part of the celebration, a symbol of the unique and enduring love Cesar and Carissa share.

After the ceremony Carissa then donned size 16 snow boots from a groomsmen and the couple trekked into the snow for some stunning couples portraits. The contrast between the crisp white snow and the vibrant love radiating from Cesar and Carissa made for breathtaking photos.

Whether it was capturing their laughter as they snuggled close to keep warm or the serene moments when they gazed into each other’s eyes, every shot told a story of love, joy, and the beauty of embracing life’s surprises. Despite the cold, Cesar and Carissa’s warmth shone through in every moment. Their wedding day is a reminder that love can turn any challenge into a cherished memory.

The night ended with plenty of dancing, delicious cake, and the warmth of friends and family; despite the chill outside. Most importantly- it ended with Mr. and Mrs. Arellano finally being wed to one another with a bright future ahead of them!
